symptom: ssh hangs when connecting remotely

possible problem: incompatible terminal type (i.e. xterm).

symptom: cannot su to root even though the user is in the 'wheel' group

solution: check /etc/pam.d/su and uncomment relevant line to allow for using 'wheel' group for su access.
